Rules and Equipment

  1. Follow the mountain bike code. Using footpaths or out of bounds tracks / areas will result in disqualification, even if carrying your bike. Close all gates.
  2. Cycling off the master event map is out of bounds.
  3. You should not do anything that you would consider cheating if anybody else did it.
  4. Pairs must remain in contact at all times.
  5. Golden Rule: you MUST report to the finish even if you retire, emergency phone number will be on the event map.
  6. Roadworthy and well maintained cycles are essential.
  7. Cycling Helmets are COMPULSORY and must be worn at all times.
  8. Note that competitors compete in this event at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. Take care on narrow country lanes and on the off-road trails, some of which are steep and rocky. Winter conditions can be cold, wet, windy and slippery.
  9. Waterproofs, warm clothing, simple tool kit, inner tubes, puncture repair kit and enough food / drink for 5 hours are essential.
  10. Other equipment must be carried: basic first aid kit, compass, watch, whistle and at least 50p for an emergency phone call.
  11. "No kit, No ride, No refund"




DO NOT BE LATE BACK - Penalty Deductions:

1 to 5 mins late - Lose 1 point per minute
6 to 10 mins late - Lose 2 points per minute
11 to 20 mins late - Lose 5 points per minute
21 to 30 mins late - Lose 10 points per minute
over 30 mins late - Lose all points




1st aid kit must be carried by all competitorsNOTES: Classes have been reduced for simplicity.

    A = men age (17-39) pairs combined (34-79)
    B = women age (17-39) pairs combined (34-79)
    C = men age (40-49) pairs combined (80-99)
    D = women age (40+) pairs combined (80+)
    E = men age (50+) pairs combined (100+)
    G = Generation pair (youth under 16 plus adult)
    X = any other pairs

- Organisers will score an 'organisers average' for their event, of their best other 2 scores.
- Best 4 scores from 6 events to count towards league prizes. 1 of these 4 MUST be a Spanish Score result
- The proceeds from each event will be donated to a charity of the relevant organisers choice. The sum is expected to be £50 - £150 depending on entry numbers.
- Late entries are allowed, if room available, but with an additional charge of £2 and only after contacting Paul Allen by phone or e-mail to confirm.
- Final Results will be posted on www.trailquest.co.uk and www.mintcakemtb.co.uk and will be sent out by e-mail if you include your address on the entry form.

Entries must be sent in 7 days before the event(s) you are entering
If you provide a legible e-mail address on the entry form, confirmation of your entry will be sent. Check www.trailquest.co.uk eGroup forum for last minute info or www.mintcakemtb.co.uk homepage
No final details will be sent through post.

Entry Fees:

£6 per rider for Full TCA member
£8 per rider if only a TCA Associate member
£9 per rider if not a Full or Associate TCA member
add: £1 per rider to hire a SI dibber (pairs must have one each)
add: £2 per rider late entry fee - (after phoning to confirm)

NOTE:
  Late entries make it difficult for organisers, it is for this reason you must
            e-mail or phone 01539 723163 to arrange and pay £2 extra.
